An eco-friendly site – these are the ways we protect our planet

Here at Cae Lal, our eco-friendly values are at the heart of the experience we provide for our guests and visitors, right down to the very last detail.

As an eco-conscious camping and glamping site that’s surrounded by nature, we’re passionate about providing a sustainable tourism experience for our guests and introducing our visitors to a greener way of life.

We cherish our green credentials and our efforts to be as planet and eco-friendly as possible, and we’re always looking for more ways to live in harmony with our planet and to incorporate these into our services.

If you’ve ever been curious as to what an eco-friendly site like ours do to take care of the planet, these are three examples of little green details you’ll encounter when you stay with us at Cae Lal.

Products

We provide a selection of toiletries and cleaning products on site that align with our love for nature and the planet. Every item, from the soaps, shampoos and conditioner, shower gels and washing up liquid, are lovingly chosen for their non-toxic, natural and eco-friendly qualities.

We’re also big fans of the Who Gives a Crap products, recyclable toilet paper and tissues from an eco-conscious brand, which you’ll see in the bathrooms of our guest house, glamping cabins, and the compost toilets.

One example of our dedication to protecting the land around us is that we kindly encourage our guests to use the toiletries provided as we can’t allow any chemicals to be used due to the design of the natural soakaway.

Facilities

Eco-friendly facilities are dotted around our site, making them easy to use and accessible for everyone. Our compost toilets are great for the environment, the land and for the natural inhabitants we share our beautiful space with. Although they may look like a normal toilet, the only difference is you add sawdust instead of flushing, and we ask that you wipe the toilet with the environmentally friendly products afterwards – easy ! We also supply eco toilet rolls by the amazing company – Who Gives a Crap. Made with eco-bamboo paper, they also donate 50% of their profits to ensure everyone has access to clean water and a toilet.

Infrastructure

Where possible, we’ve provided upcycled and pre-owned furniture around the site. Both our cosy cabins are built out of reclaimed timber and building materials, and pre-loved and Welsh-made furniture and furnishings have found a new home in the cabins and our guest house. Painted with eco paint – Little Green, blinds made from eco materials, kettles and toasters made from plant-based plastic…it’s incredible what options you have when you start to look for green-alternatives! By prioritising Welsh-made furniture when needing something new, we’re reducing our carbon footprint and supporting local businesses – a win-win for Wales and the planet!

The best thing about being an environmentally-friendly site is that we’re nestled in the Welsh countryside and enveloped by untouched landscape and its stunning wildlife – meaning we’re always surrounded by the natural environment that our eco-friendly decisions are benefitting. The perfect motivator to live the green life! We still have so much more we’d like to do! But every little effort helps to secure a better future for our children and our planet.
