Our Story

Cae Lal is a family business, owned and managed by first language Welsh speaker Bethan. She lives on site with her two daughters, and their dog, Doti…friendliest dog ever!

Cae Lal is located on once a working farm, Brithdir Mawr. Two generations ago, Alwyn, known locally as Lal, used to live and farm here, hence the name Cae (pronounced kai) Lal: Lal’s field.  

Bethan, once a PR and Marketing professional, decided to follow her dream of running her own rural retreat. She felt an immediate connection with the smallholding when she purchased it in 2020. Embracing a holistic lifestyle, Bethan balances the demands of running a business and parenting with practices like yoga, walking, and eating nutritious food. As a Reiki master, she now offers Reiki sessions from a cosy cabin in the meadow. She loves being outdoors, bird watching, and immersing herself in nature. She also loves to bring people together, create opportunities to celebrate life on earth through music and creativity!

Her infectious passion for the land, nature, music and Welsh culture shines through in the warm welcome and unique experiences we offer at Cae Lal.
